HONOLULU (AP) — A state grand jury has issued an indictment with additional counts for a family doctor who had been charged with sexual assault of three patients.
Dr. Donald Nicol, 73, was indicted Tuesday on four counts of sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl, two counts of assaulting a 21-year-old woman and four counts of assaulting a 19-year-old woman. The two women are sisters.
Circuit Judge Richard Perkins confirmed bail at $750,000. He ordered the bond Nicol posted in Honolulu District Court last month to be transferred to state Circuit Court.
The indictment said the sexual assaults began in August 2011.
The grand jurors did not return charges for three other allegations of sexual assault involving the sisters between October 2007 and March 2011, when they were between the ages of 12 and 15.
Defense attorney Brook Hart last month in court said Nicol denies touching anyone improperly but that touching for examination is part of the doctor’s job.
