Shriners Hospitals for Children in Honolulu announces Angela Keen is its new provider relations officer. The former television journalist will act as the liaison between the hospital and its referring physicians and providers. She and public relations Director Mahealani Richardson will be responsible for increasing public and provider awareness and marketing efforts of the hospital’s expanding orthopaedic, fracture clinic and neurodevelopmental services for infants, children and teens with or without health insurance.
Shriners Hospital’s orthopaedic team travels to Hawaii Island several times during the year for outreach clinics and Keen will be a part of that effort. Keen has received accolades for health and wellness advocacy in Hawaii and raising awareness for organ donation. Her awards include the American Cancer Society’s Media Award, Hawaii Medical Association’s Reporter of the Year, and Commendations from Governor of Hawaii for Health Advocacy.
She is one of 51 Americans who received the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Above and Beyond award in 2009. It’s the highest honor a civilian can receive.
