After the closure of Hilo Lanes earlier this year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hawaii Island board members knew they needed to come up with an alternative plan for the second annual Hilo Bowl For Kids’ Sake.
They wanted to build upon the excitement from 2013 and create an equally thrilling fundraiser to benefit mentoring programs for local at-risk youth.
And so, Hollywood Horror — a ball of tinseltown terror, filmdom, phantoms, and movieland mayhem — was born.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hawaii Island’s first Hollywood Horror is slated for 7-11 p.m. Saturday at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
The party will include spooky decorations, crazy costumes, tarot reading, a photo booth, heavy pupu and no-host drinks, silent and live auctions, and music from VIZION 20/20 for a night of dancing and revelry.
“We have had so much fun planning this event!” said Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hawaii Island Community Director Gail Takaki. “We thank KBIG FM of Pacific Media Group for partnering with us in presenting this exciting party and Mahilani Partners LLC for their generous support.”
Tickets are $60 and will be used to support local youth in need of a positive role model through mentoring programs.
