Lava was within 280 yards of Pahoa Village Road this morning, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.
The June 27 flow was advancing at a rate of about 10 yards per hour, the agency said in an update at 8:15 a.m.
It advanced about 90 yards since Tuesday evening.
“Based on the current flow location, direction and advancement, residents in the flow path were placed on an evacuation advisory and notified of possible need for evacuation,” Civil Defense said. “The evacuation advisory for those residents down slope of the flow will continue and residents will be kept informed of the flow status and advancement.”
Pahoa Village Road between Apa‘a Street and Post Office Road remains closed to through traffic.
