A 55-year-old Kona man was arrested shortly after a robbery at a Kailua-Kona pharmacy on Saturday.

At 8:35 a.m. Saturday, Kona patrol officers responded to Mina Pharmacy at the corner of Kuakini Highway and Walua Road. They learned that a man had entered the pharmacy and threatened to blow it up unless he was given drugs.

He fled on foot after being given undisclosed medication.

At 9 a.m., officers located the suspect, Phillip W. Hart, on the property of a nearby condominium on Walua Road. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit and taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives investigated.

Hart was charged at noon Sunday with second-degree robbery. His bail was set at $5,000.

He was unable to make his initial appearance in court Monday due to medical reasons, court records state. A preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday.
