The Kona Historical Society will open the KHS Kona Coffee Living History Farm from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday for a celebration honoring Kona’s coffee heritage.
This free event promises to be a fun day with many coffee farm-related activities.
Activities will include traditional food, baked goodies and shaved ice, Kona coffee tastings, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables to buy and taste, ojyame games for the keiki, visits with Charlie, the farm’s Kona Nightingale, “talk story” session with kupuna and an historic Kona coffeeland photo exhibit.
There also will be kanikapila entertainment and tours of the 1920s farm and farmhouse.
Also, making a special guest appearance, will be Chef Sam Choy, creating a Kona country lunch.
For parking, a special shuttle will be provided that day by the county Mass Transit Division from Kealakekua Ranch Center.
The shuttles will run from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
