Aloha Performing Arts Company is offering a four session workshop to help actors/dancers prepare for upcoming auditions for “Evita,” its spring musical theater production.

Juanita Finkenberg, who recently choreographed “Fiddler on the Roof” and served as movement coach for “Waiting for Godot” and “Jekyll &Hyde,” will be the instructor of “Latin Fever,” an introduction to basic social partner dancing.

The workshop will include basic foxtrot, rumba, and tango. Emphasis will be placed on footwork, floor patterns, framing, rhythm and style. Simple choreographed sequences will be introduced. Couples and individuals of all ages are welcome. Dress or dance shoes for men and secure heels or dance shoes for women are recommended.

Beginners are encouraged to sign up, and skilled dancers are especially welcome. The workshop will be offered from 10 a.m.-noon at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu on four consecutive Saturdays: Nov. 22 and 29, and Dec. 6 and 13. Tuition is $40 and each student must commit to at least three of the sessions. A limited number of scholarships is available, to be arranged through APAC operations director Suzanne Murdock.

Auditions for “Evita,” the Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway musical, will be Dec. 15-16, and the show will be performed Feb. 13 through March 15. For more information, call Finkenberg at 333-5927. To sign up or request a scholarship, call Murdock at 322-9924.
