The state Department of Agriculture currently is accepting registrations for a free aquaponics workshop slated for 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the department’s conference room at 16 E. Lanikaula St. in Hilo.

The session is one of five to be hosted on the Big Island, Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Molokai. Sessions will focus on the growth potential of the aquaponics industry in Hawaii.

“HDOA hopes to equip aspiring new aquaponic farmers with knowledge in key areas, including wholesaler’s feedback,” said spokeswoman Liz Xu. “Existing aquaponics farmers may find the information helpful as well.”
