Hawaii Island Adult Care Inc. was honored as one of three recipients for the 2014 Bank of Hawaii Monty Richards Hawaii Island Community Award program. Presented by Donna Tanoue, Bank of Hawaii Foundation president, the $10,000 is designated for tuition assistance for low-income participants at the Hilo and Honomu Adult Day Centers.
The funds will be used over the next nine months to assist those needing adult day care to be able to continue living at home but who cannot afford the full costs. Adult day care also allows families/caregivers to go to work with peace of mind for the safety and socialization of their aged loved ones.
“Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. deeply appreciates being chosen for this award to continue their mission for the kupuna of East Hawaii,” said spokeswoman Lizby Logsdon. Information about the programs can be found at www.hawaiiislandadultcare.org.
