Join members of the Volcano Village Artists Hui over Thanksgiving weekend, Friday through Sunday, Nov. 28-30, for their 28th annual Art Studio Tour &Sale. This self-guided tour will include seven studios, all located in the peaceful rainforest environment of Volcano Village.
A special drawing for pieces contributed by each of the artists will be held at the end of the sale. Open studios have been a signature feature of the Volcano Village Artist Hui since its inception. Hundreds of visitors participate in the tour, many of them coming back year after year for this opportunity to collect uniquely crafted items directly from some of the island’s finest artists. In addition to new pieces by established Hui members, new talent is represented by guest artists showing in the Hui studios. This is a once a year opportunity for visitors to meet resident artists and view their latest offerings.
Volcano Village is energized by many local artists working in every discipline. Other Thanksgiving weekend events include the Kamahalo Christmas Craft Fair at Cooper Center and the Volcano Art Center’s 2015 Preview Exhibit at VAC’s Niaulani Campus.
Many people from around Hawaii Island, and beyond, make a day of it and come to experience the flavor and feeling of Volcano as well as finding unique locally crafted artwork for gifts and for their homes.
Hui members participating in this year’s Studio Tour will include Erik Wold, Debra Serrao, Ira Ono, Elizabeth Miller, Misato &Michael Mortara, Zeke Israel, Emily Herb, Mary Goodrich, Cynee Gillette-Wenner, Pam Barton, Margaret Barnaby and Lisa Louise Adams, along with guest artists Randal Sutton, Scott Mitchell, Tim Freeman, Norman Carby and Nash Adams-Pruitt.
