The Hawaii Aloha Chapter of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) was named the CRS Chapter of the Year during the council’s inaugural and awards ceremony in New Orleans earlier this month.
The Chapter of the Year award is given annually to CRS chapters in three categories — small, medium and large — in honor of their outstanding effort to advance the council’s mission and further the organization’s goals and objectives at the chapter level.
The Hawaii Aloha CRS Chapter won top honors in the large chapter category. Under the leadership of chapter president Shannon Heaven, CRS, the 545-member chapter hosted a variety of events to keep members engaged while giving back to the community.
Shriner’s Children’s Hospital will honor the chapter by placing an engraved brick at the entrance and a plaque inside the hospital for donating more than $100,000 and becoming a major donor.
The chapter promoted CRS membership through celebrating CRS Week by launching a statewide open house event, starting a membership task force, hosting its own state Sell-a-bration event, increasing involvement with its local YPN chapter to reach potential CRS members, having a “mahalo” event to show gratitude for sponsors, and by using flyers, email blasts, social media and representing CRS at events across the state.
“I am honored to award each chapter for doing an exceptional job of carrying out the CRS mission and commend them on their accomplishments throughout 2014.” said Ron Canning, CRS president.
