Vested Interest in K9s Inc. announces its 2015 color calendar features the Hawaii State Sheriff’s Division K-9 Team, starring Deputy Rollin Cannon and K-9 Robbie in the month of May.
The calendar is on sale now through Feb. 1 for $15 online at www.vik9s.org. Proceeds from the sales will provide bulletproof and stab-protective vests for law enforcement K-9s around the country.
“We’re really excited to offer this nationwide calendar, as it shows different law enforcement departments, police dog breeds, and general activities of K-9 teams,” explained Sandy Marcal, president of the East Taunton, Massachusetts, nonprofit, Vested Interest in K9s Inc. … Law enforcement K-9s from all over the country, from Hawaii to Maryland, are featured.”
During the past four and a half years, Vested Interest in K9s has helped vest over 1,125 law enforcement dogs. Each vest costs $950, which comes with a five-year warranty.
When state Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Lacaden heard about Vested Interest in K9s donation program in early 2013, he spearheaded the effort to apply for vests for the K-9 members of the department’s teams. The Sheriff’s Division K-9s received their vests last September.
“Before receiving this potentially life-saving body armor, all our K-9 partners had for protection was the collar around their necks,” Lacaden said. “You just never know what kind of dangerous situation is waiting for our K9 deputies when you sent them through those doors. We are very grateful to Vested Interest in K9s for granting us the vests.”
Donations for VIK9s are welcome via the website or by mail to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. P.O. Box 9, East Taunton, MA 02718.
