On Monday, officers responded to a 3 p.m. report of a verbal argument in Hawaiian Beaches. When they arrived, they learned a 25-year-old Puna man had reportedly gotten into a domestic argument with his parents and damaged their vehicle, broken two windows to their house and set fire to their living room carpet. The parents were able to extinguish the fire.
At 3:40 p.m., police found the son, Anthony-James Murray of Pahoa, a short distance away and arrested him.
At 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Murray was charged with domestic abuse, second-degree criminal property damage and third-degree arson.
His bail was set at $5,000.
He remained at the cellblock until his initial court appearance Friday.
