Gary Mark, 70, of Hilo died Nov. 19 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a journeyman carpenter and a member of Hilo Yacht Club. Visitation from 10-11 a.m. Friday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo. Celebration of life at 11 a.m.; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Aloha attire. Survived by wife, Vivian Mark of Hilo; son, Barry (Jill) Mark of Hilo; mother, Ruth Murata of Honolulu, Oahu; grandchildren, Cassidy Mark and Noah Mark, both of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John Owens, 89, of Pahoa died Nov. 21 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Brownsville, Texas, he was a retired U.S. Navy Seabees welder, and member of the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and Masons. Official Navy burial at sea to take place. Survived by wife, Mary J. Owens of Pahoa; son, Clifford E. Owens of Missouri; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
