Herman Farias Sr., 88, of Hilo died Nov. 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Gas Company installer, employee at the former Wailoa Recap and Flowers of Hawaii, and U.S. Army World War II veteran. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha (326 Desha Ave.); funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Linda Farias of Hilo; daughter, Paulette (Mark) Pang-Ching of Hilo; brothers, Joseph (Alice) Farias Jr. and James Farias, both of Hilo; sisters, Flora Temporal of Hilo, Elizabeth Childress of Las Vegas and Rose Marie (Phillip) Resureccion of Volcano; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

John Mori Wong, 55, of Hilo died Nov. 21 at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in California, he was co-owner of Kui &I Florist in Hilo. Visitation from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Hilo Church (840 Kupulau Road). Celebration of life at 4 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Caroline “kui” Wong of Hilo; son, Joshua Wong of Hilo; daughter, Diana Wong of Hilo; parents, Wesley and Debbie Wong of Lincoln, Calif.; mother-in-law, Ruth Matsuura of Mountain View; sister-in-law, Marlene (Alan) Tamashiro of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Peter (Wendy) Matsuura of Hilo, Stephen (Luanne) Matsuura of Hilo, David (Elizabeth) Matsuura of Hilo and Andy (Sonya) Matsuura of Mountain View; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Sueki Funai, 97, of Pahala died Nov. 24 at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a member of Toho No Hikari/MOA Hawaii. Private services held. Survived by spouse, Satsuki Funai of Pahala; sons, Kenneth (Esther) Funai of Hilo and Roy (Karin) Funai of Pahala; daughters, Martha Hoki of Utah and Dora Min of Pahala; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Royden Takeo Sadayasu, 75, of Papaikou died Nov. 3 at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Papaikou, he was a former postal worker and a U.S. Army veteran. Graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alae Cemetery (Section F). Casual attire.
