Eagle Scout Inoke Mills of Troop 7 recently received the “Dr. Bernard Harris Super Nova Award” He is only the fourth recipient of this award in the Pukahi(Puna-Ka’u-Hilo) district. The Boy Scout Nova program exposes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities to young people.

The Boy Scout Nova program exposes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities to young people.

Activities Inoke participated in included doing atmospheric observations at the Mauna Loa Observatory, observing the endangered hoary bats, building solar boats, putt-putt boats, homopolar motors and bottle rockets. He and his fellow Nova Scouts taught Cub Scouts how to build a catapult and how to be good role models for younger kids.
