The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports Joseph Frye was arrested on charges of manslaughter, criminal property damage, reckless endangering, reckless driving and attempted assault. He was later released.
Police say Frye was heading east in a truck on Kaumualii Highway Saturday morning when he tried to overtake a Ford Mustang.
Police say the truck clipped the front of the Mustang, then crossed the center lane and broadsided a sedan.
According to police, the man driving the sedan was extricated from the vehicle, and then transported to Wilcox Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man’s name was not immediately released.
A woman driving the Mustang did not require medical attention.
