One person was displaced after a house fire in Honokaa Sunday afternoon, according to a Fire Department statement.

One person was displaced after a house fire in Honokaa Sunday afternoon, according to a Fire Department statement.

Twelve units responded to the 1:58 p.m. alarm. The first unit arrived at the Kahili Street home four minutes later to find the second story of the two-story home totally engulfed in flames.

The fire was reportedly under control at 2:30 p.m. and extinguished at 2:50 p.m.

There were no injuries. The resident was evacuated to a neighbor’s home.

Estimated damage to the home was $250,000 while a reported $150,000 in property value was saved.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the police and fire departments.
