Lava flow 1.2 miles from Highway 130

The June 27 lava flow was 1.2 miles from Highway 130 on Monday morning, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.

The flow advanced about 300 yards within 24 hours and remained on a path toward Pahoa Marketplace.

At its current rate, lava could reach the shopping center and highway in about a week.

Smoke conditions were moderate with a light north wind blowing smoke to the south-southeast.
