Waiakea and Hilo High teamed up to help Special Olympics at the winter games in November on Oahu.
Hilo brought six unified bocce teams — one Special Olympian, one student — while Waiakea brought one.
The message of the event was “unity, awareness, respect and acceptance for individuals with special needs.”
