Catherine Karol, 89, of Holualoa died Dec. 13 at home. Born in Easton, N.Y., she was a secretary for General Electric. Services held. Survived by sons, James (Sylka) Karol of El Paso, Texas, and Thomas Karol of Holualoa; hanai daughter, Dorine Peregrim of the mainland; sister, Julia (Manuel) Ballestero of Boston Lake, N.Y.; brother, Paul (Shirley) Peregrim of Argyle, N.Y.; three grandchildren. Shizuka Motoishi, 92, of Pepeekeo died Dec. 15 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Onomea, she was a homemaker, former independent sugar planter and member of Hilo Hooganji Mission Kyodan and Honomu Henjoji Mission Kyodan, Fujinkai and Kongo-ko. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Tuesday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 5 p.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Ronald “Ronnie” Mark Rassner, 68, of Honokaa died Nov. 27 at home. Born in Detroit, he was a technology business manager for The American Management Association in New York, an associate professor of anthropology, languages and African oral tradition at the University of Wisconsin and Yale University, and Fulbright lecturer and associate professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil. The late Justin Michael Saragosa was a member of Operating Engineers Local 3 and his survivors include, among others, father, Gerald G. Saragosa Sr., and brother, Gerald (Marla) Saragosa. Incomplete and incorrect information was submitted for an obituary published Wednesday.
