Mayor Billy Kenoi was the guest of honor and speaker during the recent graduation of the October through December 2014 group of health care graduates of Hawaii Institute of Healthcare &Training Services on Dec 15.

Kenoi addressed 20 graduates from the Medical Administrative Assistant, Nurse Assistant and Medical Billing Training programs.

The mayor congratulated the students by saying they were able to make it because they were determined, and that they should not stop there but continue.

The most inspiring part of his talk was when he shared his dreams of being a student then becoming a lawyer and now a mayor, which he said a lot of people didn’t think he could but because of his dreams and determination he was able to.

Furthermore, he said the health care field is expanding and the community and its kupuna need health care workers who have been well trained and are compassionate.

Graduation was well attended by various private and local agencies from Hawaii County and Honolulu who support the program and by families and friends of the graduates.

The event was hosted at Nani Mau Gardens.
