Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific’s (REHAB) Hilo Clinic recently added an AlterG anti-gravity treadmill to the outpatient clinic.

The AlterG anti-gravity treadmill is a technology offering a revolutionary approach to rehabilitation with the ability to defy gravity and work toward regaining function. The differential air pressure technology developed by NASA was enhanced by AlterG to provide precise unweighting in increments to as low as 20 percent of the patient’s body weight. AlterG’s exclusive precision weight bearing control enables patients to determine where exercise becomes pain free and provides medical professionals a way to accurately measure and progress patient rehabilitation.

“The AlterG provides an excellent way to rehabilitate a wide range of medical conditions including Strokes, Parkinson’s Disease, total knee and hip joint replacements, and a variety of leg injuries,” said Don Yamauchi, REHAB’s Hilo Clinic manager.
