The Honokaa Jazz Band, a group of advanced music students from Honokaa High and Intermediate School, will entertain at 7 p.m. Saturday at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
Led by acclaimed composer, musician, and educator Gary Washburn, the band received an award from the Grammy Foundation as one of 36 Grammy Signature Schools, a NAMM (National Association of Music Merchandisers) Award as one of the best communities in the U.S. for music education, and Washburn earned a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award from the National Society of High School Scholars.
