HONOLULU (AP) — The nominating committee for state water commission members is accepting applications for one open position.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said Wednesday the four-year term for the position begins on July 1.
The committee will review applications and send names of no less than three qualified individuals to the governor, who will nominate one person for the vacancy. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
The commission is charged with protecting and enhancing Hawaii’s water resources. It administers the state water code.
The governor appoints five of the commission’s seven members through the nominating committee. The Board of Land and Natural Resources chairman serves as the commission’s chairman.
The director of the Department of Health is also a member.
