2 derby matches on tap at Civic
Hilo’s Hawaiian Honey Badgers, the two-time state champions, will take on the Echo City Knockouts of Kailua-Kona and the Waimea Wranglers in a season-opening roller derby doubleheader Saturday at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
The first bout starts at 5 p.m. and tickets are $5.
BIIF welcomes track officials
The Big Island Interscholastic Federation is looking for anyone interested in being certified as a track and field official. Those interested can attend an officials meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the room below the administration building at Waiakea High school.

Haili tourney is March 23-28
The 58th annual Haili Volleyball Tournament will be played at several sites in Hilo from March 23-28.
There will be junior and adult divisions, and applications can be downloaded from Hailivolleyball.com.

The Big Island Interscholastic Federation is seeking water polo officials for the spring season.

Golf tourney benefits judo
The 14th annual Hawaii Shima Judo Kyokai Benefit Golf Tournament will be held on March 22 at the Hapuna Golf Course.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Proceeds are used to support BIIF high school judo teams as well as judo camps and seminars featuring world-class instructors and competitors.
Golfers and sponsors are invited to help raise funds.
