Joseph Coit Jr., 76, of Hilo died March 6 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama facility. Born in Kohala, he was a retired diesel mechanic for Yamada &Sons, Hawaii Army National Guard retiree and member of Hawaii Classic Cruisers. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life service at 6 p.m. Graveside committal service and burial 9 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Clara Coit of Hilo; son, Owen (Jodie) Coit of Hilo; daughters, Brenda Jo Ioane and Deborah (Patrick) Moniz of Hilo, Cindy (Darren) Naihe of Kona; brother, George (Kathleen) Coit of Keaau; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Lorraine Cecilia (Kenny) Salrin, 78, of Hilo died March 2 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired admissions clerk for Kuakini Medical Center, former administrator for Olomana School, florist, U.S. Army Korean War-era veteran and member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kailua, Oahu. Visitation 9:30-10 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 148 Makawao St. #A, Kailua, Oahu. Eulogy at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial 1 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, 45-349 Kamehameha Hwy., Kaneohe, Hawaii. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Dana (Nancy) Kenny of Hilo and Darren (Maile) Kenny of Oahu; daughters, Rhonda (Harry) Pagan and Robin (Larry) Mehan of Hilo; brothers, Dennis Ginden of Illinois and Eugene (Vicki) Gould of Texas; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins. Tomokichi “Tom” Taniyama, 98, Kailua-Kona died Feb. 23 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Holualoa, he was a retired carpenter and member of Waiaha Kumi, Kona Hongwanji, Carpenter’s Union Local No. 745, Senior Bowling League, Kona Senior P&R League, and Friday Bowling Gang. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Saturday, March 21 at Kona Hongwanji in Kealakekua. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers.
