Join First United Protestant Church on Saturday, March 21, for a celebration of classical vocal arts during the second annual “Songs We Love To Sing.”

The concert will be presented by local singers and instrumentalists Kaui Trainer, soprano; Gerdine Markus, mezzo- soprano; Marius Stranger, tenor; Barry Brandes, bass-baritone; Annu Shionoya, piano; Walter Greenwood, piano and organ; Glenda Johnson, violin; and Roy Tadao Kimura, flute.

If you liked the first concert last spring, you’re going to love this one more. And if you missed the first one, here’s your chance to experience a unique and exciting evening of vocal classical music. The program is truly a mixed bag of opera, art song and oratorio in various combinations: solos, duets, trios, quartets surely will have wide audience appeal.

A variety of repertoire, well-known and rarely heard pieces, in many languages (French, German, Italian, Russian and Swedish) and styles (classical, romantic and modern) will be performed.

Selections include works by Arditi, Bach, Berlioz, Grieg, Puccini, Schumann, Sibelius, R.Strauss, Sjoberg and Tchaikowsky. This performance will be given in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Pacific Academy of Music.

The concert is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the church located at 1350 Waianuenue Ave. in Hilo.

Tickets are available at Basically Books and at the door. Cost is $12 general admission and $10 for students and seniors
