The Stanford Chamber Chorale, directed by Stephen M. Sano, will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
The chorale is Stanford University’s most select choir, comprised of 24 voices drawn from graduate and undergraduate students. Hailing from across the United States and around the world, these singers represent a variety of academic disciplines and degree programs. As chorale members, these students meet a demanding schedule of performing, touring and recording while maintaining their rigorous academic programs.
The chorale is on tour in Hawaii in late March, and will make its Big Island premiere at Kahilu. The repertoire will include choral works ranging from Gregorian chant to newly composed works to Hawaiian part-song and folk songs and spirituals.
Tickets range from $5 to $20, and are available online at www.kahilutheatre.org, by calling 885-6868 or at the Kahilu box office from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The chorale also will play a free concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the pavilion in Hale Halawai Park on Ali‘i Drive in Kailua-Kona.
