ANAHEIM, Calif. — Shawna-Lei Kuehu scored 18 points, including 12 in the second half, and top-seeded Hawaii beat seventh-seeded Cal State Fullerton 73-64 on Friday to advance to the Big West Conference tournament championship game.
Saturday, the Rainbow Wahine (23-7) will take a 15-game winning streak into the conference finale against No. 2 seed Cal State Northridge at noon Saturday.
Destiny King added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Marissa Wimbley scored 12 points for Hawaii. Hawaii got 31 points from its bench, led by Kuehu, who was 5 of 9 from the floor and was 8 of 11 from the free-throw line.
Hawaii took a 15-point lead, its largest, with 12:30 in the first half and was up by seven at halftime. The Titans rallied to take a 43-40 lead with 14:07 left in the game. King made a 3-pointer to tie and Kuehu followed with a basket. The Rainbow Wahine never trailed again and led by as many as 11 points after that.
Chante Miles led the Titans with 16 points. Samantha Logan added 15, Tailer Butler 14 and Kathleen Iwuoha grabbed 10 rebounds.
