HONOLULU (AP) — Flags will be flying half-mast to honor the later former state Rep. Diana “Mele” Carroll.
Gov. David Ige made the order which will take place from sunrise to sunset on Sunday. A memorial service will be held on Maui.
Ige says Carroll was a pillar in Maui County who was dedicated to improving her community. He says Carroll worked hard for her constituents and her passion was evident in her work.
Carroll served in the state House of Representatives from 2005 to 2015. She represented Kahoolawe, Lanai, Molokai and parts of Maui.
Carroll died of complications from cancer on Feb. 18. She was 50 years old.
