The Hawaii Island Landscape Association and University of Hawaii Cooperative Extension Service are offering the 2015 Landscape Maintenance Training Program and the Landscape Industry Certification Program to landscape professionals and home gardeners.

The Hawaii Island Landscape Association and University of Hawaii Cooperative Extension Service are offering the 2015 Landscape Maintenance Training Program and the Landscape Industry Certification Program to landscape professionals and home gardeners.

The LMT Program is a 10-week series of classes, that also can be taken individually, covering topics which include: basic botany, tropical plant identification and selection, plant nutrition and soil health, turf care, irrigation basics, pruning trees and shrubs, establishing and managing a landscape, pesticide use and safety, pest ID and control, and landscape plan reading and calculations.

Classes begin April 8 and will run Wednesday afternoons from 2p.m.-5p.m. through June 10 at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel in South Kohala. Cost for each class is $35 for HILA members and $40 for non-members. The fee for the entire series is $325 for members and $375 for non-members. Space is limited and early registration is suggested.
