Century benefits N.Hawaii Hospice
The Hawaii Cycling Club’s second annual Hawaii Century on April 12 will benefit the North Hawaii Hospice.
With three routes – 110 miles, 64 miles and 30 miles – the Century is an opportunity for novice and intermediate athletes as well as experienced cyclists.
The fee is $50 before March 24 and $60 thereafter.
Race-day registration starts at 6 a.m., and the 110-mile begins at 6:30 a.m.; the 64-mile group starts at 7:30 a.m.; and the 30-mile route goes out 8 a.m.

Hawaii Cycling Club time trial
The Hawaii Cycling Club’s Kua Bay training time trial is Saturday, and there will be three distances starting from three different locations with each ending at the turnoff to Kua Bay.
• 24.5-mile course: registration, turnoff to Kua Bay, 7:15-7:45 a.m.; start, 8 a.m. at entrance to Veterans Cemetery
• 12.2-mile course: registration, Bike Works Beach and Sports, Queen Shops, 7:15–7:40 a.m.; start, Highway 19 sign just South of Waikoloa Beach Road, 8 a.m.
• 6.0-mile course: registration, scenic overlook parking lot, 7:15-7:45 a.m.; start, sign about quarter-mile south of scenic overlook, 8 a.m..
Either an annual membership ($20) or a one-day membership ($5 if paid by Wednesday, $10 after) is required to participate.

Trap club results
Steve Kaufman scored the highest March 1 during a Big Island Trap Club shoot at the county trap and skeet range.
Participants shot 50 targets in singles, handicap and doubles:

2. Mark Hironaga, 126
3. Neil Arakaki, 125
The next registered shoot will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 12. All shotguns, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be supplied by the individual participant.

Junior golf day slated Saturday
The Hawaii State Junior Golf Association will hold its fourth annual junior golf day at 10 a.m. March 21 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course and Mauna Kea Resort.
According to a release, the event is “a fun and free introductory golf experience for juniors (5-18).”
