Darryl Henry Arruda, 66, of Hilo died March 29 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired heavy equipment mechanic, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and member of Hilo Jaycees, Hilo Casting Club, Waiakea Pirates and Makamaka Ola Motorcycle Club. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Friday, April 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Burial at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by son, Dustin (Malia) Arruda of Hilo; daughters, Kristy Arruda and Angela (Billy) Farias of Kauai; mother, Alice Arruda of Kauai; brother, Kelly (Linda) Arruda of California; sister, Nadine (Darrell) Horner of Kauai; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Herbert “Small Man” K. Kaaukai Sr., 94, of Pahoa died March 21 at Hilo Medical Center. Audrey Kuulei Perreira, 85, of Hilo, formerly of Kaneohe, Oahu, died April 6 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home.
