Residents, visitors and families of all ages are invited to attend the 2nd annual Kailua Kanikapila Community Picnic featuring Hawaiian music by Hilo’s Darlene Ahuna and Kanakapila from 4 p.m.-sunset Saturday at the Hale Halawai County Pavilion oceanfront lawn.
Bring lawn chairs, beach mats and picnic favorites, or for those who prefer to purchase food, Estrada’s Surf n Turf, Big Island Kettle Corn, JJ’s Mini Orbits Donuts and Scandinavian Shave Ice will be on-site, as well.
Ahuna is a multiple Na Hoku Hanohano-award winner, including Female Vocalist of the Year.
Her powerful renditions of Hawaiian songs and hula classics will drift through the casual picnic atmosphere, setting the mood for another great community picnic.
Ben Kaili and J.J. Ahuna of Kanakapila are traditional Hawaiian music vocalists with a playlist that will entertain picnic-goers as the sun sets over Kailua Bay.
