The other Honokaa entry, in the mini-documentary category, is titled “Mission Possible.”
Presented by Sony, the ‘Olelo Youth Xchange Student Video Competition is the state’s oldest and largest contest of its kind.
This year’s finalists are from a record 892 entries submitted by students from public, charter and private schools across the state.
High-definition Sony digital video cameras will be awarded to the winning schools in each of the 44 divisional categories May 4 at the awards gala at the Sheraton Waikiki Resort. It will be broadcast live at 10:30 a.m. on Channel 54.
Judges selected finalists based on subject impact and technical production.
‘Oleo Youth Xchange was developed to help give island keiki a voice to tell stories in a variety of video formats and about subjects meaningful to them.
Students compete in three age divisions: elementary, intermediate and high school.
