Rosemary Ahuna, 72, of Hilo died April 9 at home. Born in Pueblo, Colo., she worked for the former Robert’s Bakery, Food Fair Lunch Shop, Bags Snack Shack, Naniloa Ice Cream Shop and Avis Rent a Car. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Diane Jean Baker, 76, of Hilo died April 11 at home. Born in Detroit, she was a retired teacher’s aide at Chiefess Kapiolani Elementary School. Services held. Walter “Boy” Panila Kahiwa Jr., 66, of Captain Cook and Milolii died March 9 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Napoopoo, he was a retired educator for Kamehameha Schools, Honaunau and Konawaena middle schools and served on Hawaii Burial Council, Educational Council, Kahikolu Church Restoration Committee, as kahu at Hau‘oli Kamana‘o Church, Boy Scouts of Hawaii Troop 59 and other community organizations. Services 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, April, 25 at Kahikolu Church, and 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday, April 26 at Milolii Halau. Scattering of ashes to follow at Milolii. Born in Kurtistown, she was a retired stenographer and office manager for state Division of Forestry, leader and officer in South Hilo Extension Club, Sunday school teacher and member of Buddhist Women’s Association at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Survived by daughter, Joan (Edward) Tamori of Wailuku; son, Eric (Lynn) Nishioka of Hilo; brothers, Clifford Nagao of Kurtistown, and Robert (Janette) Nagao of Honolulu; sister, Michiko (Richard) Hori of Kaneohe; sisters-in-law, Mieko Nagao of Kurtistown and Jean Nagao of Honolulu; three grandchildren and one great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
