UH-Hilo ace right-hander Vanessa Salinas earned her second Pacific West Conference Pitcher of the Week honor Monday, and this time she had to work a little extra to get it.
Salinas struck out eight in 10 innings on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader against Hawaii Pacific, and she gave herself the victory with a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th.
Its regular season finished and ranked eighth in the West Region, UH-Hilo will await its playoff fate after two other conferences play their postseason tournaments this weekend.
