The Big Island Press Club will host its annual scholarship dinner at 5:30 p.m. May 28 at Hilo’s Seaside Restaurant.

The Big Island Press Club will host its annual scholarship dinner at 5:30 p.m. May 28 at Hilo’s Seaside Restaurant.

In additional to honoring the club’s 2015 scholarship recipients, the dinner will feature award-winning comedian Augie T. as the guest speaker.

The press club annually awards scholarships to students pursuing a higher education in journalism, a related field or are engaged in journalism at the collegiate level. The BIPC scholarships include the $1,500 Robert C. Miller Memorial Scholarship, $1,000 Bill Arballo Scholarship, $1,000 Marcia Reynolds Scholarship, $600 Yukino Fukubori Memorial Scholarship and the $500 Jack Markey Memorial Scholarship. Last year, BIPC awarded a total of $4,600 to five Hawaii Island students.

Advance dinner reservations are $35. Tickets are $40 at the door (ticket fees may apply). No-host cocktails will be served and tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite at bigislandpressclub.org/events.
