Hawaii police announced around 10 a.m. Sunday that a fallen tree had shut down Highway 11 in Mountain View and downed power lines at the 6 milemarker near Canney Road.

Motorists were able to bypass the road closure by following North Kulani Road to Ihope Road, and then taking Peck Road back onto the highway.

The alternate route was later blocked by a stalled bus, according to a County of Hawaii update at 1:10 p.m., shutting down all traffic.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to use alternate routes if possible,” the county message reads.

By 1:53 p.m., police reported that a single, alternating lane of traffic on Highway 11 was being allowed through.
