HPA graduation set for May 22

HPA graduation set for May 22

Commencement ceremonies for Hawaii Preparatory Academy will be held starting at 10 a.m. May 22 in Castle Gymnasium at the school’s Upper Campus.

The ceremony is open to the public.

One hundred thirteen graduating seniors will take part in the program. Headmaster Lindsay Barnes will preside. Richard Braithwaite, senior class leader and Upper School English department chair, will deliver the commencement address.

UHH disability grant available

The application deadline for the University of Hawaii at Hilo Scholars with Disabilities Achievement Grant is June 30.

This annual award honors a student with a disability for his or her superior scholastic performance and who plans to enroll or is enrolled at UH-Hilo for the fall 2015 semester.

Applicants can be enrolled either full or part time, must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and are qualified students with a disability.

Kealakekua’s library to reopen

Kealakekua Public Library and book drop will reopen at 2 p.m. Wednesday following the completion of recent renovation projects.

Renovation work included exterior painting and various repairs and improvements for the library.

The public service schedule of the library is:

Noon-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday; 2-7 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday; and closed Thursday and Sunday.

Kealakekua Public Library is at 81-6619 Mamalahoa Highway. For information about programs and services, call the library after it has reopened at 323-7585.

2nd Infantry members sought

The Second (Indianhead) Division Association is searching for anyone who served in the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division at any time.
