Nedward “Ned” Mathews Kaapana, 66, died April 3 in Honolulu. Born on Hawaii Island, he was a professional musician and member of the popular Hawaiian trio Hui ‘Ohana with twin brother Ledward “Led” Kaapana and their late cousin, Dennis Pavao. Charles “Charlie Boy” Kauhane Kahoalii Jr., 78, of Kailua-Kona died April 23 at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Pahala, he retired from Konawaena High School as head custodian, was a former tour driver for Slim Holt Tours, Jack’s Tours and Hawaiian Discovery Tours, a bowler with the Teachers League, Kona Senior Citizens and other bowling leagues, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kealakekua Ward.
