Edward S. Fujitani, 74, of Hilo died Thursday May 7 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Honokaa, he was a retired automotive mechanic. Visitation 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 16, at Hilo Meishoin Mission. Service at noon. Casual attire. Survived by mother, Tamae Fujitani of Hilo; son, Kevin Fujitani of Hilo; brother, Roy (Lynette) Fujitani of California; sister, Gladys Nishiura of Hilo; nieces, nephews and cousins. Edward “Frito” Hall, 57, of Hilo died April 27. Born in Keaukaha, he was a carpenter. Celebration of life at 11 a.m. Saturday at Puhi Bay Beach Park. Scattering of ashes to follow. Ah Lan Kealaonona Hiro, 79, of Hilo died April 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was founder of Ah Lan’s Lei Stand and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Monday, May 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Funeral mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Celebration of life from 2-6 p.m. at the family home at 263 Lama St. in Hilo. Aloha attire. Nedward “Ned” Mathews Kaapana, 66, died April 3 in Honolulu. Born on Hawaii Island, he was a professional musician and member of the popular Hawaiian trio Hui ‘Ohana with twin brother Ledward “Led” Kaapana and their late cousin, Dennis Pavao. Celebration of life 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale in Hilo. Survived by wife, Leanna K. Kaapana; son, Kalae Makaio (Gina) Borelli; brother Ledward P. Charles “Charlie Boy” Kauhane Kahoalii Jr., 78, of Kailua-Kona died April 23 at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Pahala, he retired from Konawaena High School as head custodian, was a former tour driver for Slim Holt Tours, Jack’s Tours and Hawaiian Discovery Tours, a bowler with the Teachers League, Kona Senior Citizens and other bowling leagues, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kealakekua Ward. Visitation from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Kona Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kealakekua Ward. Service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Joanna Momi McCallum, 80, of Honolulu died April 28 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired bookkeeper and danced hula professionally with Uncle George Na‘ope and Aunty Genoa Keawe.
