John Michael Angelo Cole “Mac” Caneda, Sr., 51, of Hilo died May 12 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kailua, Oahu, he was an auto body mechanic with CNJ Service, member of National Rifle Association and grand master of Filipino martial arts. Visitation 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 7 p.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Charmaine Caneda of Hilo; son, John Michael Angelo (Sherri) C. Caneda Jr., of Kapaa, Kauai; daughters, Tasha Ann (Allan) S. Caneda and Chantel (Vince) M. Mieko Kuritani, age 85, of Kurtistown died May 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Holualoa, she was retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Hilo as a customer service representative and member of Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple Kyodan and Fujinkai. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by daughter, Kathleen (Steven Hurt) Sakamoto of Hilo; sister, Alice Kuritani of Chandler, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Ruth Ota of Denver; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Irene “Gramma Lee” Potbury Lee, 97, of Holualoa died May 8 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Wailuku, Maui, she was a secretary for St. Augustine Elementary School, former proprietor of Hanauma Bay Concession, active partner with The Club in Kona, life member of Cousins of the Hulihee Palace, and volunteer for St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hawaii Police Department and Hawaii County Elections Office. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Monday, May 25, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Alii Drive. Mass at 10 a.m. Graveside service and inurnment at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Diamond Head Memorial Park in Honolulu.
