HONOLULU (AP) — According to a new report, Hawaii fell two spots from last year and placed fourth in the nation for the health of its senior citizens.
This year’s America’s Health Rankings Senior Report was released Tuesday. The rankings were issued by United Health Foundation based on 35 measures of well-being.
According to the report, Hawaii placed first in low prevalence of obesity, ample supply of geriatricians, low rate of premature death, among other categories.
The report also noted that Hawaii seniors are more physically active than the rest of the nation.
Hawaii did report having more underweight elderly. Also, more elderly report joint pain in Hawaii than in other states.
The report found Vermont was the healthiest state for seniors, and Louisiana was the least healthy.
