Project Hawaii Inc., a nonprofit organization managed by volunteers and solely supported by public donations, is providing a free summer camp for homeless and poverty-stricken keiki between the ages of 4 and 7.
Camp hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 10-13 at Kalopa State Park.
The agency is seeking a broad range of support, such as those who can help with fundraising efforts, collection drives, volunteer at camp and share special skills and talents with the children. The volunteer shifts are 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.
The summer camp program is educational-based to help the children gain the life and social skills they need to succeed in school.
Pre-camp support also is needed. Groups, clubs and community members are needed to conduct drives for either food, hygiene, cabin needs, school supplies, project supplies, etc.
Project Hawaii strives to provide nutritious meals and teach the children how to make healthy choices when possible.
