Kamehameha boys and girls volleyball camps

The Kamehameha School boys volleyball team is hosting its annual “All Day, All Night, Volleyball Camp” for high school boys and girls, along with the Day camp for elementary/middle school volleyball players. The camps are held on the school campus.

The high school sleep-over camp (grade 9-12) is June 7-11. The cost for the high school session is $160 and includes three meals per day.

The elementary/middle school day camp for boys and girls grade 2-8, is June 8-11 and runs 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Camp tuition is $115 or $140 with a bento lunch option.

The head clinician is Kamehameha coach Guy Enriques. Team discounts are available for seven or more players. Coaches/parents who want to learn and participate are welcomed but must register.

Jimmy Yagi Summer Hoops Camp in July

The 3rd Annual Jimmy Yagi Summer Hoops Camp will be held July 21-24 at Hilo Civic and Panaewa courts for boys and girls 9 to 17 years old. The camp is named in honor of the legendary former UHH basketball coach who helped guide the Vulcans-Hawai‘i Basketball School for 37 years.

UHH women’s basketball coach David Kaneshiro will be the lead clinician and Honokaa girls basketball coach Daphne Honma will be an assistant.

Early registration is $60 per camper. The cost will rise to $70 for players registering after Monday, July 13. All participants will receive a camp shirt and group photo. Please make checks payable to the Director of Finance and include the note “Jimmy Yagi Summer Hoops Camp.”

Pop Warner seeks sign-ups islandwide

Big Island Pop Warner Football is accepting registering for the 2015 season.

Tackle football is for ages 7-15, and cheer and dance for ages 5-15 (age determined on July 31).

Weight restrictions are in place for different divisions of play. Island association teams will be paper certifying in mid-July and practice will begin Aug. 1.

Participants are required to have the following forms in order register: medical/physical (must be Pop Warner form, dated Jan. 1 to Aug. 1); player/participant contract; end-of-year report card copy (all four quarters); original birth certificate and one copy; copy of medical card; 2 by 2 color photo of participant

Special Olympics golf season to start Friday

The Special Olympics East Hawaii golf season will begin Friday June 5.

Practice will be held every Friday through Aug. 21st, with a golf tournament to be held at the end of the season.

All interested Special Olympic athletes are encouraged to sign up at www.info@golftreasures.net. Click on Special Olympics 2015 sign-up for golf and fill out information or in person at Golf Treasures, located at 37c Lono Street.
