The University of Hawaii at Hilo Art Department is accepting registration for its 2015 Summer Art Institute-Hilo, or SAiH, program, a six-week immersion drawing course with classes from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. each Saturday beginning June 27 through Aug. 2.
The course is designed for beginning and advanced-level students and will explore traditional, digital and conceptual approaches to the discipline of drawing with sessions taught by a cohort of lecturers and visiting artists to keep participants engaged and challenged.
Instruction includes a weekly group review from 4-7 p.m. Sundays with SAiH faculty and staff. Students enrolled in the course will have open studio access from 8 a.m.-midnight Monday through Friday to further develop work initiated during instruction or to create new works.
Hawaii residents can apply for a limited number of half tuition scholarships, and special summer session dorm rates are available for those in need of on-campus housing.
