Wild also could be considered for Teacher of the Week.

After all, some of the best teaching can be accomplished while leading by example.

Wild, a math teacher at Konawaena, was the top Big Island finisher Saturday at the IRONMAN 70.3 Hawaii on the Kohala Coast.

The 28-year-old Wild finished eighth overall in a time of 4 hours, 37 minutes, 51 seconds.

In addition to teaching math, Wild, who moved to the Big Island a year ago, also started a triathlon club at Konawaena.
