The American Association of University Women Hilo Branch selected four dynamic women for scholarship awards for the academic year 2015-16.
Ashley Fukuchi, Samantha Hanabaga, Kathleen Smith and Heather Stever each received $1,000 awards.
AAUW scholarship recipients represent a cross-section of women attending the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Fukuchi is majoring in chemistry at UH-Hilo and hopes to pursue a pharmacy degree at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy.
Hanabaga received her bachelor’s degree in biology from UH-Hilo. She is enrolled at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy.
Smith has continued to raise her children while attending Hawaii Community College and working as an educational assistant at Waiakea High School. She plans to earn a sociology degree at UH-Hilo.
Stever earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is attending UH-Hilo where she is studying entomology and working toward a master’s in tropical conservation biology and environmental science.
